| Getting Exercise While Traveling |
|
If you are one of the many people who take a lot of business trips for your job and find it hard to stick to your regular exercise routines because when you return home you are discouraged to find your progress has been set back, then this message is for you. Even when you take that one or two week family vacation some of your progress might be compromised. When you are on the road, there are a few things that you can do to prevent losing a week or two of progress and still enjoy yourself (even while on vacation).
To start with, you can call ahead to some hotels in the area where you will be staying to see if they have an exercise facility of their own that you can use during your stay. You can ask them for any information about hiking trails, scenic walking areas or any parks in the area that might have a jogging path with some circuit exercise apparatus along the way.
When packing for your trip, always pack some sweat pants or jogging shorts, a comfortable shirt and running shoes. In case it rains during your stay or you are busy all day or don't want to run or walk around an unfamiliar town after dark, bring along some rubber resistance tubing, a jump rope and an inflatable exercise ball and do a workout right there in your room. You can look at these times that you will be on the road as an opportunity to mix it up a little and throw a bit of a change into your regular exercise routines and have some fun while you do it.
The key here is it is not essential to exercise with the same intensity you would when you are at your local fitness center or home gym. The important thing is to just stay active and keep your muscles going while away from home. You can still enjoy the sights and attractions of a new town and not have to sacrifice your fitness program in the process.
